Stuff to Read While You’re Supposed to Be Working

1. Insulin and Weight Loss: They Still Don’t Get It– Leigh Peele

Here’s a nice presentation Leigh Peele threw together not too long ago that I thought was spot on. People, carbohydrates serve a purpose. Sweet potatoes aren’t junk food. No, really, they’re not! Oh, and guess what carbhaters? You can get fat independent of insulin. And, to add insult to injury, protein raises insulin too! It’s like magic, only with less gluconeogenesis. Hahahahaha. Hahahaha. Hahaha. Ha. You don’t get it do you? You see gluconeogenesis is when the body breaksdown protein to make its own glucose and DAMMIT IT WAS FUNNY!!!

2. One of the best books I’ve read in the past year is Born to Run by Christopher McDougall.

Not surprisingly, a lot people have read the book- about a tribe of super-freaks who like to run (for fun), and how the shoe industry is essentially a 20 billion dollar a year shame- and not surprisingly, a lot of people got a bit overzealous thinking they can go out on day #1and start running barefoot. One day they’re running in shoes, and the next they’re doing 400m sprints on broken glass.

Nevertheless, an ex-client sent me THIS article, or mission statement if you will, on Marathon Sport’s stance with regards to barefoot running. I liked it, and I think you will too.

3. Bootylicious– Mike Robertson

Like I wouldn’t read something with the word ‘booty’ in it. Well played Mike Roberson, well played. In all seriousness, however, this was a nice blog post by Mike showcasing how there’s a fine line between having a booty and dysfunction. Unless, of course, you’re name is Kim Kardashian.

4. John Rock’s Error– Malcolm Gladwell

It’s no secret that I’m a huge Gladwell fan, and this article (which is featured in his latest book What the Dog Saw) definitely piqued my interest; which is saying a lot given it’s about (cue Darth Vader theme music) “the pill.” I swear, the guy could write about belly button lint, and I’d be passing out copies like it’s an Ayn Rand novel.

Enjoy! And for those of you living in the Northeast, drive safely today!

Did what you just read make your day? Ruin it? Either way, you should share it with your friends and/or comment below.

Plus, get a copy of Tony’s Pick Things Up, a quick-tip guide to everything deadlift-related. See his butt? Yeah. It’s good. You should probably listen to him if you have any hope of getting a butt that good.

I don’t share email information. Ever. Because I’m not a jerk.
