Like many of my colleagues, I use my blog as a way relay information, express my opinions on certain things, and otherwise offer some insight as to what’s jogging around in my brain on a day to day basis. Moreover, I also use it as way to interact with a wide array of people from across the world, and it’s been an absolute blast in the 4+ years that I’ve been doing it.

Coming up with content on a daily basis, however, isn’t always as easy as it may seem. While I feel I do a decent job of providing a blog that offers quality content (as well as a little entertainment),  I’d be blowing sunshine up my own ass if I didn’t own up to the fact that there are times where I sit in front of my computer screen in the morning and literally draw a blank.

Nada.  Nothing.

Crickets chirping

Tumbleweeds blowing

Or any other analogy you can come up with, there are times where I have no clue what I want to write about. Cue picture of Paula Patton being hot.

That said, I get ideas for blog posts from a wide variety of avenues:  clients I work with, books I read, other websites I frequent, DVDs I watch, commercial gyms I visit (always a good one), but I’m always looking for other unique ways to spice things up a bit.

2011 saw TonyGentilcore.com grow in ways I never could have predicted, and I have no doubts that 2012 is going to be just as equally successful, if not more so.

So, I have to ask:  what would you like to see more of in the upcoming year?  More video blogs? Shorter posts?  Longer posts? More guest blogs? More pictures of me without my shirt on?  Kidding. Kinda. Okay, I’m totally kidding.

No, but seriously, I can do that.

Any suggestions/opinions/words of wisdom/criticism is fair game here.  Please provide any feedback you’d like to share below.  It really does help!

Did what you just read make your day? Ruin it? Either way, you should share it with your friends and/or comment below.

Plus, get a copy of Tony’s Pick Things Up, a quick-tip guide to everything deadlift-related. See his butt? Yeah. It’s good. You should probably listen to him if you have any hope of getting a butt that good.

I don’t share email information. Ever. Because I’m not a jerk.

My favorite thing about your blog is the "exercises you should be doing segments". You break down why the exercise is important, coaching cues, and with a video demonstration. And because many of them are corrective type exercises, I can use that information in my own workouts and the PT clinic.

Some of my favorite posts from your blog and from other fitness writers (EC, Dan John, Mike Boyle, Brett Contreras, etc) is when you guys do a brain dump and just throw out random thoughts. Two recent examples come to mind: Brett just started his Contreras Files and I've gone over Dan John's 40 Years of Insight articles at least once a week since he posted them. For me, those are great because there always seems to be something that I hadn't thought of or that's worth revisiting with my training. Some stuff might seem obvious to you guys who do this day in and day out, but for guys like me who don't work in the industry, a lot of your "common sense" insights are the most useful. Might also be a nice way to break up those days when a specific topic just isn't coming to you. My 2 cents.

I enjoy your "Stuff To Read While Your Pretending To Work" series. Its a great insight into how you get some of your information, and your words about each article you've selected show a bit of how you are thinking about things. Also, any posts where you discuss mistakes you have made in the past, like having people with snapping hip syndrome perform wall kneeling hip flexor mobs.... very helpful and interesting.

Periodic day in the life type stuff. How you train, what you eat, etc. and, when you make changes, why.

    1. Your video blog series is going to kick ass, surely? A good addition would be just a series of "vlogs" demonstrating various routines like you did for the deadlift. (maybe, if sufficient number of these come up, have a separate tab for video demonstrations up top?). One other thing that I'd be interested in learning is how to go about designing a program for yourself if you're a noob? 2. More pictures of Jessica Alba.

I really enjoy reading about your training and progress. It's always great to read trainers/lifters practicing what they preach - their methods are only enforced by their own success.

I love brain dumps. Also, I would like to see tons of stuff on program design and tips to become a better trainer/coach. Love your blog as it is but those are some things that would make it better. Thanks for everything!

Videoblogging for sure.. Also, more nutrition info without getting all sciencey and technical, like "how to remove/add 500 kcal a day with these simple tricks", "Recipes that are totally diesel" and perhaps most important "101 ways to serve cottage cheese"

The video blogging on the deadlift setup was excellent, more like it would be great. Also, maybe how Cressey Performance approaches training athletes from different sports.

For all of us who workout in a commercial gym and don't get good spoting, could you do a video of how to correctly spot various lifts. Thanks, Tony. Really enjoy the blog.

Your video blog rocked, so more of the same would be great. An article on flexibility/mobility specifically for the power lifts (also military press) would be awesome. Some information on how to train seriously in a commercial gym without killing anyone would be great. Just joking, but seriously, how can I do that? :) Keep up the good work, Tony.

Loved your Inchworm Complex post after visiting with Smitty, and really all your Exercises You Should Be Doing posts. I'm not in my 20s any more so everything you do on Mobility, proper warmups and the like is becoming more and more important. If you could do some posts/ebook on simple, all-encompassing mobility work - what exercises, how much, what order - that would be great. It's important to do, but boring as hell sometimes, and there must be better, faster, more fun ways of getting it done.

Hey Tony. Love you blog. I would like to see a couple of things: 1. More video blogs. Mini-lectures, rants, technique instructionals, gun shows, etc. Hearing someone speak gives us (the reader/listener) such a greater insight into your message. 2. More on what you're reading/listening to. You seem like a good bloke with decent influences. I think that's part of the overall health puzzle these days. 3. I would love to see a series on starting from scratch (maybe you could even call it that). Put yourself in the shoes of a highschool kid, a mid 20's WOW nerd, a mid 30's desk jockey, a middle aged husband, etc. If they came to you with no experience. Where should they start, what progressions should they do, what should they aim for in terms of strength, etc. I think it would be fascinating and would provide some insight into where we may have gone wrong along the way and what we could potentially do to fix it. Anyways, have a great Xmas and New Years. Cheers.

Tony, Looks like folks already chimed in on much of what I was to ask for, but additionally I'd love to see... a) TRX moves CP uses b) Basic programming tips for intermediates c) More mobility drills, especially those for the hips and T-spine d) How-to pieces on progressing popular moves (e.g., moving from dumbbells to barbells, differing stances and such)

Keep doin' what you're doin' homie. This blog is top-notch. Love the short video demos, the links to what we should be reading, and oh, the hot chicks are cool with me. Not quite T-Nation-esque, but hey, I'm sure you have a slightly different audience. On the real, keep it up, as is. Love it. JMJ

Great blog and can't wait to read more from you in 2012. I think all the suggestions so far have been great. My only other idea would be to offer more insight into the CP staff meetings - how to grow the business, handle interns, etc. Happy Holidays!

Tony, Here is an idea I havn't seen so far- using your contacts around the country, compile a list of the best gyms? These gyms would have to include a prowler, GHR machine, kettlebells and TRX. Gyms containing dumbbells up to 200 lbs but not having any of the prior mentioned pieces of equipment should not qualify.
