Stuff to Read While You’re Pretending to Work
Draw-In vs. the Brace – Charlie Weingroff
Honestly, I really don’t know why the topic of bracing vs. drawing in is still debated. Then again, people still debate over whether it was Han Solo who shot first, or Greedo.
For the record, I realize that the scene was altered in the Special Edition release, but you’re still a horses ass if you think Greedo shot first. As well, I’d have to question anyone who feels that the drawing in manuver is more advantageous than bracing when discussing core stability. I mean, Dr. Stuart McGill wrote an entire book on the topic basically pwning the whole drawing in method.
Nonetheless, since most people don’t want to read an entire book, Charlie does a great job at summarizing why abdominal bracing should be the preferred method. Basically, while most people would say he kicked a horse while it’s down – I say he dropped kicked, supplexed, and ninja-chopped it across the face. Well done Charlie!
Why Women Should Not Be Afraid of Gaining Muscle – Charles Poliquin
Superb post by Coach Poliquin discussing some of reasons why women should want to gain muscle. Missing, however, are the following points:
1. No dude will ever ask you to make him a meatloaf and live to tell about it.
2. People will destroy the back of their pants when they see you repping out chin-ups like it’s your job.
3. You’ll actually have shape, contour, and form to your body.
4. Ludacris might write a rap song about you.
5. fdsfhsadasp9uedffsfashkploasediuowqe, among other things.
Expanding on the Joint-by-Joint Approach (3 Parts) – Gray Cook
Dave Draper’s site linked to an excerpt from Gray Cook’s new book, Movement: Screening, Assessment, Corrective Strategies titled “Expanding on the Joint-by-Joint Approach.” It goes without saying that I’m going to name my first born after Gray Gray is brilliant, and has influenced many professionals in the fitness industry. I haven’t read the book yet, but if this excerpt is any indication, it’s going to be awesome!
